Work from home norms for IT extended till December 31, 2020
Currently 85 percent of the IT workforce is working from home and those who needed to perform important functions are going to office. The time period for work from home is expiring by July 31 and so the government has extended the norms for IT and BPO companies till December 31, 2020.
Reason for extension:
Due to this coronavirus pandemic, work from home is the best way for the people. A large population of people are working in IT companies and there is a greater risk of infection if they are allowed to gather at office for work.
- Number of confirmed cases of Corona virus in India has crossed over 11.55 Lakhs and 28,084 people have lost their lives in the past few months.
- Ensure business continuity
- Employee safety
- Increase sector talent pool in tier-2 and tier-3 cities
Benefits of remote work:
The employers need to provide good equipment and support to the companies. Some of the benefits for remote work are:
- Less time on travel
- Increased productivity
- Cleaner environment
- Money saved
- More job satisfaction
- Less sickness
- Working in a safe environment
- More time for fitness
Post – pandemic workplace:
While working remotely grants some mental-health and a few other benefits but “job” as we already know will never be the same.
The employees need to generate results without a lot of in-person interaction with their colleagues.
Conferences, in – person meetings, handshakes, lunch together will become a risk of infection.
Work from home is being a temporary side effect of the pandemic. The employers must be able to get their work done on time. The managers hope that the workers perform their jobs without supervision.
This is really so stressful to read! Me working in night shift, I work all alone and sleep all alone without none beside me. Sitting inside 4 walls and doing work with nobody to speak is so stressful! I hope this situation ends soon and be back to normal life.
