In the view of COVID – 19 pandemic, Tamil Nadu chief minister K.Palaniswami has ordered the cancellation of semester exams and to proceed with the next academic year.
Reason behind cancellation of semester exams:
- Due to this coronavirus pandemic, there is increased number of COVID patients day by day.
- Vaccines are not available till now.
- Students get depressed thinking about their exams in the current situation.
- If students are allowed to attend their exams then there is a high risk of getting affected by the virus.
Cancelled exams:
- First and second year UG studying in arts and science colleges
- First and second year PG studying in arts and science colleges
- First, second and third year UG studying in Engineering colleges.
- First, second and third year UG studying in Engineering colleges.
- First year MCA students
- All students other than final years studying diploma courses
Exceptional case:
This announcement is not considered for the final year students. Final semester exams will be conducted.
Students are awaiting for the information regarding how the marks will be calculated for the cancelled exams and how final semester exams will be conducted.
Expectations:
It is expected that the colleges will be asked to take into account the internal assessment marks to evaluate the cancelled semester examination marks.
Final year students will have to write their final semester exams online.
However, the detailed and final announcements will be declared later.
Students left for their home towns when the lockdown was announced thinking that it will last only for a couple of weeks but it has been nearly 4 months. So students, buckle up to proceed with the next academic year.
