Engineering students are dissatisfied about their online semester exam results. The engineering students have to write their exams in the month of November and December. But due the rapid spread of Corona virus, it was postponed to February and March. Nearly 4 Lakh students appeared for the online exams including 2nd year, 3rd year and final year students of B.E, B.Tech, M.E and M.Tech. Meanwhile Anna University released the exam results on April 11th through online. Students and the colleges were not satisfied with the results because more than 1 Lakh students had the result as with held (WH). Only 30% of the students have passed the exams. This creates a mess among the students, teachers and the parents. Even the top scoring students have secured less marks or failed in the exams. One final year student of engineering college had arrears in 4 subject papers and she committed suicide. The students and the colleges opposed and when they asked for the reason, no proper reason was given by the Anna University.
Reasons for With held (WH):
- The student would have not followed the rules of the exam. Those rules need to be intimated to the student at least during the exam so that he/she would have followed the rules for the following exams.
- The colleges may not have paid the exam fee, so the students would have got WH in their results.
- Student might have involved in malpractice while writing the online exam.
Solution to this problem:
- Anna University must justify proper reasons to the colleges and the students for their results.
- Reassessment must be conducted for the students.
- Revaluation can be done to improve the marks of the students.
- Grades must be provided considering the performance by the student during the internal tests and other assessments conducted in college.
- Student who have not involved in any malpractice during the exams, then he/she can claim for justice and need not panic for the results.
Students can feel free to comment their opinion about their exam results!
