More than 400 Universities have already held final exams: UGC

UGC response for Final years : Edubuzz360

The University Grants Commission (UGC) said that a number of universities have already conducted online or offline examinations for final year students. Some more Universities have decided to conduct in the month of August or September. While a few educational institutions have cancelled the exams, decided to grade them based on internal assessment tests and even granted them the degrees explaining the helplessness in conducting the end semesters. The UGC have issued the revised guidelines because final exams are mandatory for all Universities. Many students and teachers demanded and evoked criticisms to cancel the exams. Classes conducted in the colleges and Universities have been completely washed away for the past 4 months. This is a worst hit on the final year students because final semester exams are exit exams that need to be considered important. If the exams need to be cancelled then there arises a question “On what basis a student need to be graded?”. On the other hand examinations are not the only mode to assess a student. So alternate methods to assess a student must be devised. All the decisions must be taken by the Government at the earliest considering the safety as well as career progression of the students so that they can look forward seeking for jobs to support themselves and their families at this crucial time.
